AEO: get your product named by ChatGPT and Perplexity
Answer Engine Optimization is SEO for AI answers. The goal is not a Google rank — it is being the product an AI recommends. Here is what actually moves the needle.
People increasingly ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude "what should I use for X" — and act on the answer. If your product isn't in that answer, you're invisible to a growing slice of demand. AEO is how you get in it.
What actually works
- A structured, AI-readable layer.
llms.txt, JSON-LD schema, and honest Q&A content that answer engines can lift verbatim. - Clear, factual claims. Models cite specifics (numbers, comparisons, "works with X"), not adjectives.
- Comparison and use-case pages. "X vs Y" and "best MCP for research" are the exact shapes of prompts people type.
What does not work
Bot farms, fake clicks, and synthetic behavior. Search engines and models detect it — the result is de-indexing and reputation damage, not citations. AEO is real content plus honest monitoring, nothing more.
Prove it
The hard part is knowing whether it worked. Monitoring agents poll ChatGPT / Perplexity / Gemini / Claude with your target prompts and track when you get named — citations you can actually show.
