🔎 Example output
Real, reproducible output from the tool — runs offline:
$ gasprofiler-emit --version
gasprofiler 0.1.0
$ gasprofiler-emit --help
usage: gasprofiler [-h] [--version] [--format {table,json}]
{profile,check} ...
Per-function Solidity gas profiler: flags unbounded loops and gas regressions vs a baseline (forge-snapshot style).
positional arguments:
{profile,check}
profile profile contracts and print/save a per-function gas
snapshot
check compare contracts against a baseline; exit 1 on
regression
options:
-h, --help show this help message and exit
--version show program's version number and exit
--format {table,json}
output format (default: table)
examples:
gasprofiler profile contracts/Token.sol
gasprofiler profile 'contracts/**/*.sol' --out .gas-baseline.json
gasprofiler check 'contracts/**/*.sol' --baseline .gas-baseline.json --tolerance 0.05
gasprofiler profile contracts/Token.sol --format json | jq .

Usage — step by step
- Install (Python 3.9+):
pip install gasprofiler - Profile a Solidity contract and print a per-function gas table:
gasprofiler profile contracts/Token.sol - Save a baseline snapshot for CI (globs are supported):
gasprofiler profile "contracts/*.sol" --out .gas-baseline.json - Fail a PR when any function regresses beyond a tolerance vs the baseline:
gasprofiler check "contracts/*.sol" --baseline .gas-baseline.json --tolerance 0.05 - Read the output: the table sorts functions by estimated gas and flags
UNBOUNDEDloops;checkprints regressions/improvements. Use--format json | jq .for tooling. Exit codes:0clean,1unbounded-loop findings (profile) or regressions (check),2usage/IO error.

Why gasprofiler?
Gas-griefing DoS as a security class plus a CI baseline that fails PRs on regressions — merges perf and security, broad dev appeal.
gasprofiler is single-purpose, scriptable, and self-hostable: point it at a target, get prioritized results in the format your workflow already speaks (table · JSON · SARIF), gate CI on it, and let agents drive it over MCP.

Use it from any AI stack
gasprofiler is interoperable with every popular way of using AI:
- MCP server —
gasprofiler mcp(Claude Desktop, Cursor, Cognis.Studio, uncensored-fleet) - OpenAI-compatible / JSON — pipe
gasprofiler scan . --format jsoninto any agent or LLM - LangChain · CrewAI · AutoGen · LlamaIndex — wrap the CLI/JSON as a tool in one line
- CI / scripts — exit codes + SARIF for non-AI pipelines
How it compares
| Cognis gasprofiler | Foundry gas snapshots | |
|---|---|---|
| Self-hostable, no account | ✅ | varies |
| Single command, zero config | ✅ | ⚠️ |
| JSON + SARIF for CI | ✅ | varies |
| MCP-native (AI agents) | ✅ | ❌ |
| Polyglot ports (JS/Go/Rust) | ✅ | ❌ |
| Open license | ✅ COCL | varies |
Built in the spirit of Foundry gas snapshots / hardhat-gas-reporter, re-framed the Cognis way. Missing a credit? Open a PR.
Integrations
Pipes into your stack: SARIF for code-scanning, JSON for anything, an MCP server (gasprofiler mcp) for AI agents, and a webhook forwarder for SIEM/Slack/Jira. See docs/INTEGRATIONS.md.
