Staruml Controller Dfd

An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server specialized for Data Flow Diagrams. Enables AI assistants like Claude to programmatically create and manage data flow diagrams — external entities, processes, data stores, and data flows in StarUML.

Architecture

Prerequisites

• Node.js 18+
• StarUML with the staruml-controller extension installed and running

Setup

1. Clone and build the core package

npm install && npm run build
cd ..

2. Clone and build this package

git clone https://github.com/pontasan/staruml-controller-dfd-mcp.git
cd staruml-controller-dfd-mcp
npm install && npm run build

3. Start the StarUML Controller Server

1. Launch StarUML and open a project (or create a new one)
2. From the menu bar, select Tools > StarUML Controller > Start Server...
3. Enter a port (default: 12345) and click OK
4. The HTTP server starts — all Data Flow Diagram (DFD) tools become available via MCP
