Verify signed payment webhooks (Stripe/Adyen/HMAC) and detect replay / idempotency bugs. Standard library only.

Usage — step by step

  1. Install the CLI (console script webhookvty; also runnable as python -m webhookvty):
    pip install cognis-webhookvty
    
  2. Verify a batch of recorded webhook events from a JSON file (- reads stdin):
    webhookvty verify events.json
    
  3. Read the result as JSON for piping, and tune the Stripe replay window:
    webhookvty verify events.json --format json | jq .
    webhookvty verify events.json --tolerance 600   # seconds; -1 disables
    
  4. Pin the clock for deterministic timestamp checks in tests with --now:
    webhookvty verify events.json --now 1700000000
    
  5. Automate in CI — exit 0 = all valid, 1 = findings (bad sig / replay / idempotency), 2 = input error:
