pip install cognis-statuskit

statuskit scan . # → prioritized findings in seconds

🔎 Example output

Real, reproducible output from the tool — runs offline:

$ statuskit-emit --version
statuskit 0.1.0
$ statuskit-emit --help

Self-hosted status page engine.

positional arguments:
  {status,uptime,incidents,subscribers,check,notify}
    status              status report
    uptime              uptime report
    incidents           incidents report

Usage — step by step

statuskit reads a status-page JSON config and reports component health, uptime, incidents, and subscriber notifications. Exit codes: 0 ok, 1 findings (non-operational / active incidents on check), 2 usage/error.

  1. Install

    pip install statuskit

  2. Print overall + per-component status from a config file:

    statuskit status config.json

  3. Inspect uptime and incidents for the same config:

    statuskit uptime config.json
    statuskit incidents config.json

  4. Read machine-readable output with --format json (works on every subcommand) and pipe into tooling:

    statuskit --format json status config.json | jq '.overall_status'

  5. Gate automation/CI with check — it exits non-zero when the page is not fully operational or has active incidents:

    statuskit check config.json || echo "status page degraded"

    You can also resolve who to page for an incident: statuskit notify config.json <incident-id>.

Why statuskit?

classic self-host win

statuskit is single-purpose, scriptable, and self-hostable: point it at a target, get prioritized results in the format your workflow already speaks (table · JSON · SARIF), gate CI on it, and let agents drive it over MCP.

Features

  • ✅ Fast, single-purpose CLI

  • ✅ JSON / SARIF output for pipelines

  • ✅ CI fail-gate (--fail-on)

  • ✅ MCP server for AI agents

  • ✅ Runs on Linux/macOS/Windows · Docker · devcontainer

  • ✅ Ports in Python, JavaScript, Go, and Rust (ports/)

Quick start

pip install cognis-statuskit

statuskit --version

statuskit scan . # scan current project

statuskit scan . --format json         # machine-readable

statuskit scan . --fail-on high # CI gate (non-zero exit)

Example

$ statuskit scan .

  [HIGH    ] STA-001  example finding             (./src/app.py)

  [MEDIUM  ] STA-002  another signal              (./config.yaml)

Use it from any AI stack

statuskit is interoperable with every popular way of using AI:

  • MCP serverstatuskit mcp (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Cognis.Studio, uncensored-fleet)

  • OpenAI-compatible / JSON — pipe statuskit scan . --format json into any agent or LLM

  • LangChain · CrewAI · AutoGen · LlamaIndex — wrap the CLI/JSON as a tool in one line

  • CI / scripts — exit codes + SARIF for non-AI pipelines

How it compares

| | Cognis statuskit | Statuspal |

|---|:---:|:---:|

| Self-hostable, no account | ✅ | varies |

| Single command, zero config | ✅ | ⚠️ |

| JSON + SARIF for CI | ✅ | varies |

| MCP-native (AI agents) | ✅ | ❌ |

| Polyglot ports (JS/Go/Rust) | ✅ | ❌ |

| Open license | ✅ COCL | varies |

Built in the spirit of Statuspal / Cachet, re-framed the Cognis way. Missing a credit? Open a PR.

Integrations

Pipes into your stack: SARIF for code-scanning, JSON for anything, an MCP server (statuskit mcp) for AI agents, and a webhook forwarder for SIEM/Slack/Jira. See docs/INTEGRATIONS.md.
